| ATTACK OF THE SEQUINS

| | Decked out in a fully sequined ensemble, Kate Hudson arrived at the Extreme Beauty in Vogue soiree at the Palazzina della Ragione in Milan, Italy on March 2 with her brother, Wyatt Russell. For someone who is usually so fashionable, my first thought is what happened here? And at the Vogue party during Milan Fashion Week, of all places! The sequined skirt and cropped jacket set is an all around disappointment. I dont care who designed it -- you couldnt pick a more unflattering style for Kates body. Its even more disappointing because I saw a Twitter update from one of the attendees who spotted Kate ask a security guard to hold her sequined jacket while she took a breather to cool off, but after seeing the rest of her fit I wish she hadnt asked for it back! First off, the skirt is a horrible cut. Kate has fabulous gams, and the length and high waist fit make her legs look chunky (try incorporating sequins into your wardrobe in more flattering ways like Autumn Cashmeres Sequin Bolero Sweater in Black or Philosophy by Alberta Ferrettis Scoop Sequin Tank in Green). The tucked in white corset top might work, except for the casual bow ties hanging down the front. Way too feminine of a contrast to the flashy all-over sequined look. The jacket draped over her shoulders is cute, but again the cropped length and short sleeves chops up her body. Maybe a plain color with no sequins would have been a better take? Kate carried a black clutch (like Julie Ks staple Sasha Clutch in Black Glaze), which is a little puzzling because there is no black in the skirt or jacket -- so why not try a less statement color, like nude or tan? Kate completed her look with a bunch of gold bangles (try Alex and Anis Set of 7 Signature Expandable Wire Bangles in Gold) and cool multi-toned metallic heels -- probably the only part of the look I like, but again too much with the sequins. Even Kates hair looks sloppy, swept back with loose pieces falling out, intentional or not. Can we just assume her stylist couldnt make it to Milan in time to approve this? What do you readers think -- does it work for Kate or is it completely unwearable?... |

| | Lauren Conrad was spotted making her way into Eva Longorias restaurant, Beso, for a night of filming her hit reality show "The Hills" in Hollywood on March 4. I know many of you readers think that Lauren consistently plays it safe with her style and never takes any chances - do you feel the same way about this outfit? LC started with a patterned blouse (check out similar options from Walter, like the Neon Watercolor Print Blouse, or from Cake Couture, like the Silk Wrap Blouse in Mix) and paired it with skinny black denim (try Tag Jeans Stretch Skinny Pant in Black) and black suede Louboutins. Her finishing touches? Her favorite gold charm necklace (like Maya Brenner Designs The Everything Necklace in Gold), a large silver ring (check out Michele Michel Jewelrys Adjustable Hammered Dome Ring in Silver), and her good old trusty black quilted Chanel. As Im sure you already know, the upcoming Season 5 of "The Hills" will be the shows last, and executive producer Liz Gately is speaking out about Laurens decision to call it quits. She says, "Fans first fell in love with Lauren when she was just 17 years old and a high school senior in Laguna Beach. For the five years that followed, Lauren allowed MTV to follow every aspect of her incredible journey in life. We watched her grow into an adult on The Hills, from her first real love to finding a career in fashion to difficult times when friendships unraveled. | | Not even 10+ inches of snow can dampen Cameron Diazs newfound happiness, and the 36 yr old actress ventured out on March 3 in NYC. Cam grabbed coffee with a friend before taking a brief stroll and hopping into a cab to get out of the cold. Gazing up at the snowy sky, Cameron looks winter perfect in a navy buttoned coat (like Raw 7s super warm Cashmere Peacoat in Navy), worn in skinnies (get comfy in Tags Skinny 5 Pocket Jean in Medium Stone) and rich brown boots with little heels (try Matikos flat Scallop Boot in Brown). Getting cozy in a plaid scarf and slouchy navy cap, Cam carried a chestnut leather tote over her shoulder and appeared to be unfazed by the frigid temps. Some of Camerons lesser fans felt the need to smear her for not wearing makeup here, but personally I think Cams complexion has been glowing since making the move to the Big Apple. Makes you wonder -- is it the city life or being close to her man making her so happy? In terms of her career, Camerons next feature flick, My Sisters Keeper, wont be released until June, but its already stirring up a wealth of controversy. The movie is an adaptation of a novel about a teenage girl who questions her parents right to force her to undergo medical procedures to aid her ailing sister, who suffers from leukemia. Fans of the book are outraged because the novels bombshell ending was changed for the film, spurring the creation of the Facebook group Save My Sisters Keeper! for fans to voice their distaste. Author Jodi Picoult shared her thoughts, Having the ending changed would certainly not have been my choice. I wrote the ending very intentionally because I wanted to leave the reader with a certain message. And changing that ending changes that message. However, I am excited to see the movie and to judge it on its strengths. I wouldnt be too keen about having my artistic work altered without my consent, but its nice to see Picoult looking at it with an open mind. If any of you have read the book, do you think the ending is powerful enough to stay or would you be open to a happier turn of events?... |

| | After all the Oscars hoopla, Anne Hathaway spent some time unwinding in Phoenix, AZ before departing from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl Airport on February 24. Not sure what drew her to the desert, but you can bet she enjoyed the bountiful winter sunshine! For her flight, Anne donned a casual striped henley (like Autumn Cashmeres Striped Cable Henley in Charcoal) with dark indigo skinnies (check out Pierce Jeans Norway Olivia Slim Fit Jean in Nordic Blue) and t-strap sandals. Love the shape of her sunnies and the cool beaded bracelet (try Brian Nagourneys Forget Me Knot Bracelet in Black), but whats up with the red bandana scarf? If it was tied facing forward I dont think it would be as weird, but tied behind her neck it looks like its choking her. Carrying a casual zipped up jacket (check out the similar style of Amberlynns Zipper Bomber Jacket in Black) and a striped straw beach tote, Anne looked happy to be heading home as she sipped her coffee and chatted in line with other passengers. What do you think of her high flying fit? It seems like Anne is always throwing out her opinions about fellow celebs, and she recently shared her thoughts on fellow Oscar nominee Angelina Jolie: I love Angelina, I think she is beautiful - but it is not my aim to be just like her. I admire what she does greatly. She uses her fame in a good way - and that is what I hope to do too: to make a difference. It seems like Anne has a long way to go to follow in Angies footsteps to save the world, one child at a time, but Anne did go on to share some interesting insights on the price of fame: Aside from getting a nice table at a nice restaurant and occasionally getting free clothes, fame can begin to seem very empty. And if you do not take certain steps to use it for something good it can really consume you and make you completely self-obsessed. Wonder if Anne is alluding to certain self-obsessed celebs, or maybe a former lover, like that money-guzzling con-artist ex-beau of hers? Whatever she meant, Anne has some wise words -- no one likes the self-obsessed!... |

| | Shes been busy filming her new flick The Extra Man in NYC, but Katie Holmes made a quick trip back to LA last weekend. Attending an art class with Suri in Santa Monica in the afternoon of February 28, Katie is seen here looking after her little girl in the parking lot before entering the studio. Dressed casually in black leggings (James Jeans Ritchie Slim Leg Clam Digger in Black Flex is super versatile), black t-strap sandals and a khaki wrap tunic over a white tank (try Ecoganiks better fitting Double Bib Trench Coat in Camel with PGD Styles Babydoll Tank in White), Katie looks like she could use some help keeping her hair out of her eyes! I cant tell if the top is an apron for the art class or something Katie really has hanging in her closet; if its the latter its a little frumpy for me. Is anyone else wondering about the blue nail polish Katie is rocking on her right hand only? Maybe she let Suri practice her manicurist skills -- Im not sure what else could explain it! After getting creative with Suri, TomKat enjoyed a romantic dinner date at Il Sole, though neither looked too happy when they left after their meal. You have to assume its due to the pap presence, but I always find myself wondering if theres some creepy controlling thing going on behind the scenes, no matter how many times they both insist theyre normal. Katie recently took the opportunity to shed some light on what her life is really like married to Tom in a tell-all interview with Glamour. When asked about the 16 yr age gap between Katie and her other half, she replied, It was never a concern. I know one would think, Now, how is that? But really, we both like to work, we both like our families. Its being there, being supportive, being an ear. Its not so much, Do you think I should do this? Its What do you think of it? Among other hot topics, Katie rewound a little bit and described her climb to fame: From an early age I knew that I wanted to be in this business. So I did everything I could to get here, and when I met Tom, I knew in an instant that we were going to be together, that we were going to get married. He does have a very big life. And you know, we just do it. And, as a woman, you make that transition from being single to [being] a partner. I have a teammate, and its like, were going to make this work. I think its safe to assume Katies determination keeps her moving forward, but I still wonder if theres more to it than being a team player. Thoughts?... |

| | Doing what she does best, Miley Cyrus had a widely successful book signing at Barnes and Noble in Manhattan on March 5, flaunting a copy of her newly released memoir, Miles To Go. So many fans flocked to the city to see her that people actually slept on the street the night before for a chance to get her autograph! Miley looks uber casual in her age appropriate fit, striking a pose in chocolate brown boots, stonewashed jeans (like Tags essential Skinny 5 Pocket Jean in Basic Resin Rinse) and a plain white tee (try Rails Kenna Long Sleeve T in White for winter). She kept the accessories simple with gold hoops (like Rachel Leighs Capsule Hoop Earrings in Gold) and a set of sequined and fringed scarves hanging loose. If the scarves were tied it would look frumpy and make her face look rounder, so for her tender young age its good to see she knows how to minimize her potential problem areas (I mean, Im not the only one who thinks she has chipmunk cheeks, right?). Mileys book covers plenty of revealing stories from her teen years in Tennessee to her rise to fame, dishing on everything from being bullied by the Anti-Miley Club in school to her short lived relationship with fellow Disney star, Nick Jonas. Heres a pretty good excerpt summing up her dramatics: Three girls strutted up and stood towering over me. My stomach churned. I clutched my grilled cheese sandwich like it was the hand of my best friend. It pretty much was my best friend those days. I was done for... They started cussing me and telling me to get up. I sat there, frozen. I didnt know what to do. Finally, I couldnt take it anymore. I wasnt chicken. What could they do to me? I was surrounded by people. I stood up, still a foot shorter then they were, and said, Whats your problem? What did I ever do to you? Cry me a river! Is there anyone who didnt feel picked on at one point or another during adolescence? I can see how this story could be inspirational to Mileys tween fans, but I cant help but think that the way she writes is so cliche - but I guess thats to be expected from a 16 year old, right?... |

| | Always down for a charitable cause, Kristen Bell attended the Alzheimers Associations 17th Annual A Night at Sardis gala in Beverly Hills on March 4. KB is all about her strapless minis showing off her petite bod and toned gams, and she didnt disappoint on the red carpet this time. Wearing a cool blue frock with shiny curved layers (check out LaROKs Studded Dream Dress in Eden or Tysas Empire Cap Sleeve Dress in Teal), Kristen balanced the look with sand peep-toe pumps and a gold zig-zagged box clutch (Im obsessed with Linea Pelles new Gillian Clutch in Gold, so versatile!). Love the youthful vibe except for the black toenail polish... meh! I must be the only person who thinks this trend completely classes with pretty much everything fashionable. Until I see somebody do it right, its going to bug me seeing so many celebs asking their mani/pedicurists for noir! In comparison to all the awards ceremonies that have commenced over the past month or so, Kristen has been laying low with beau Dax Shapard since the Critics Choice Awards, getting a few projects off to a good start. KB will be starring in Couples Retreat, to be released later this year, and is guest-starring in the season finale of Party Down on Starz. Party Down is a new comedy series premiering later this month, produced by Rob Thomas, who worked with KB on Veronica Mars. The show follows a group of caterers aka wannabe actors -- duh, it is Hollywood! -- through hilarious behind the scenes drama, and actually seems promising considering the long list of celebs involved in the new show. Kristens episode wont air until May, but you can guarantee shell be hilarious as Uda, the neurotic head of a rival catering company... possibly setting the scene for a recurring role in the future? Rob Thomas told the press how thrilled he is to work with the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star once again: I couldnt be any more excited about working with Kristen again. Her role in Party Down is the first that weve written for a specific actor. Too often women and guest stars get stuck playing the straight man in comedies, but, in Uda, I think John [Enbom, co-executive producer] created a character worthy of Kristens significant comedic talents. Im also looking forward to hanging out on set like old times. Im sure KB feels the same! Will you be tuning in to catch her on the boob tube once again?... |

| | Megan Fox was seen leaving furniture store Indigo in Studio City, CA on March 3, looking luscious as usual. Starting with a polished green silk top (Gold Hawks Crochet Inset Dress in Dusty Olive is a beautiful silk dress in a similar shade to Megans top) tucked into light wash skinny jeans (check out Denim of Virtues Patience 5 Pocket Tapered Jean in Champagne), Megan then chose a pair of aviators, a caramel-colored studded waist belt (like Linea Pelle Collections Laced Waist Belt with Grommets in Scotch), and flashed a peek of a lacy bra to finish off her look. While the word spread last week that Megan and fiance Brian Austin Green called it quits, the two have been spotted together recently, making many think that theyve buried the hatchet and decided to get back together. I may be wrong, but they seemed to break up very amicably, as neither had anything bad to say about the other to the press. | | Jennifer Aniston was spotted on the red carpet of the London premiere of her film Marley and Me on March 2, going for one of her typical looks but still absolutely glowing. Jen chose a floor-length pale blue dress for the premiere (either Tarts Hera Dress in Chinchilla or Gold Hawks Aofe Long Dress in Moonrock are cool choices for similar, party-friendly frocks), and paired with a multi-length, layered necklace (super similar to Robyn Rhodes Grace Necklace in Gold, and probably at a fraction of the price), a statement cuff (like Jessica Elliots Open Clover Cuff in Sterling Silver), and her shiny, golden locks. I know that Jen usually tends to play it safe (shes like the grown-up version of Lauren Conrad), but what do you think - are you into her look here? While theres no denying that Jennifer has one of the most killer bodies in Hollywood (she is 40, after all!), JA says that she definitely has to watch what she eats, otherwise she doesnt think she would be hired as often for the parts that she gets. She tells Elle Magazine, "Im a realist. I know that if I eat nothing but burgers and chips, Im not going to be hired for the parts I normally would. That might be fine one day, but not right now."
