January 10, 2010 at 10:21 PM New York Yankee Derek Jeter and "Friday Night Lights" actress Minka Kelly have set a wedding date of November 5, according to reports. The New York Post had a reporter pose as a bride-to-be who found out that Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly will marry the first Friday of November at the Oheka Castle on Long Island, after spotting it on a calendar with the title “Jeter wedding”. Sneaky eh? Reports of Minka and Derek’s secret engagement was rumored back in August, but Jeter denied the rumor on “Letterman”. The reported wedding date of November 5 seems a bit strange as that will be just one day after the last possible 2010 World Series game. Read more on Banks’ arrest below. The G-Unit rapper was arrested by police in Ontario over the weekend after allegedly attacking club promoter Chris Hines. Chris Hines had booked Banks to perform a few songs at Club N.V. but Banks arrived late and only played one song before walking off the stage. Hines refused to pay Lloyd Banks for the show which prompted a fight between Hines and Banks.  Chris Hines was taken to the hospital and treated for contusions and head trauma. Banks was arrested along with his friends Shaun MCGee, Tyrell Cooper and Nicholas Sloan. All four men are facing assault and robbery charges. The NBC network wants to keep Leno on for the 11:35 p.m. show, Conan O’Brien for 12:05 p.m. and then Jimmy Fallon following. But NBC chairman Gaspin adds, “It’s not a done deal yet.” Gaspin said that The Jay Leno Show “did not meet affiliate needs” but that Leno and O’Brien have been “incredibly gracious and professional.” “Beyond that is a private conversation and when it all settles, you can talk to them about that,” Gaspin says. “We’re back in conversation tomorrow.” Gaspin was asked why Conan would remain at NBC when other networks were interested, Gaspin stated, “Conan’s motivation will become more clear as time goes on. We gave something important to him, which was The Tonight Show, made it clear that it was moving with him. Conan wanted the franchise of The Tonight Show; Jay wanted to tell jokes at 11:30. Buble, 34, proposed to model Luisana Lopilato, 22, over the holidays. “He proposed in Argentina, in front of Lu’s whole family,” a friend revealed. “They both cried — they’re ecstatic.” Michael and Luisana met at a concert in Buenos Aries in November 2008. After the proposal, Michael and his new fiance took off to Hawaii for a vacation. In Maui, Michael was spotted introducing his fiance to everyone. "He was introducing Lu to everyone in the restaurant, proudly proclaiming, ‘We’re engaged,’” says the source. “He was so happy to show her off. "The next day Michael was sad because he had to put Lu on a private plane to Buenos Aires — she stars in an Argentine TV soap opera and she had to be on set. But she'll be back in Vancouver or Los Angeles with him in a few weeks." So far the couple hasn’t set a date but their friend said, "They're looking at some time next year." But the couple renewed their vows this time with just a minister on a bluff that overlooked the ocean outside Santa Barbara. The couple flew by helicopter to Santa Barbara and were picked up by a limo for Bacara Resort. “They were both dressed nicely and walked right out to the bluff outside the hotel where weddings often take place,” an eyewitness revealed. “A minister was waiting for them. “Fergie was crying and seemed very emotional,” the source added. Fergie and Josh then went to Bacara’s formal Miro restaurant where they had the whole restaurant to themselves. “They had the whole restaurant to themselves and left before the first customers came in,” the source said. Apparently the couple has put Josh’s cheating scandal with a stripper behind them, after topless dancer Nicole Forrester revealed she had sex with the actor when he was in town doing a movie. Read more on Lindsay Lohan’s driver’s accident below. Lindsay's car hit a photographer in Hollywood early this morning when her driver took off from Hotel Cafe. The photographer was clipped by Lohan’s car and suffered minor injuries to his hand. The photographer was taken care of by the ambulance that arrived to the scene of the accident. Now Lindsay’s driver is considered "a person of interest in a criminal assault with a deadly weapon investigation.” The unidentified female driving Lindsay’s BMW allegedly sped out of the dark alley and hit a photographer waiting to get a shot of Lohan, who was believed to be in the car at the time of the incident. The female driver may now face charges for criminal assault with a deadly weapon after cops named her as a person of interest in the case. The photographer hit by Lohan’s car said he is “lucky to be alive” and he is already planning to sue. He tells TMZ.com, “Of course I’m going to sue them… I want to press charges so badly… she’s going to jail.” Lindsay, 23, is not a suspect in the case. An eyewitness said that McLean, 32, proposed on stage at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Wasted Space nightclub on Friday evening. “He got up on stage and the DJ turned the music off. He asked her to come up on stage and he got down on his knee and she squatted down with him,” the eyewitness said. “He asked her and she said yes and hugged him. He took the ring out of his pocket and put it on her hand.” A.J. reportedly purchased the engagement ring at the hotel’s jewelry store just hours before the proposal. “AJ dropped down to one knee and said that they had been dating for a long time and [he] wanted to know if she would marry him,” a source tells Us. “Of course she said ‘yes,’ and they left the club shortly after this happened.” Congrats to McLean and Deanna on their engagement! Read more on Art Clokey’s life and death below. Art Clokey died in his sleep at his home in Los Osos, California. Clokey created Gumby from a student project at the University of Southern California in the 1950’s called “Gumbasia”. This project led to Clokey featuring Gumby and his horse friend Pokey for the “Howdy Doody Show”, which became very popular. Clokey reveals he made Gumby’s swooping after his father who had a cowlick hairdo and died in a car accident when Clokey was only nine.  Clokey’s wife suggested he give Gumby the body of a gingerbread man. Although the Gumby doll became extremely popular, Art wasn’t certain about debuting his bendable doll. “I didn’t allow merchandising for seven years after it was on the air,” Clokey told San Luis Obispo Tribune in 2002, “because I was very idealistic, and I didn’t want parents to think we were trying to exploit their children.” Art Clokey also created claymation show of “Davey and Goliath.”  The Lutheran Church paid him to make the “Davey and Goliath” shorts. Interestingly enough, in the 1970s, Clokey studied Zen Buddhism, traveled to India to study with gurus and experimented with LSD and other drugs. But his son says that came after the creation of his Gumby character. Clokey is survived by his son Joseph, his stepdaughter, Holly Harman of Mendocino County; three grandchildren, Shasta, Sequoia and Sage Clokey; his sister, Arlene Cline of Phoenix; and his half-sister, Patricia Anderson of Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions in Gumby’s name to the Natural Resources Defense Council, of which Art Clokey was a longtime member. The artist’s wife, Gwen Huneck, spoke about her husband’s death. “Tragically, Stephen took his own life,” Huneck wrote in a letter posted online. “Stephen had been despondent for some time now and was being treated for depression.” She also said they worried about losing their home and mountain-top farm called Dog Mountain due to the economy. On Tuesday, they had to lay off most of the employees of their art studio and the chapel. “This hurt Stephen deeply. He cared about them and felt responsible for their welfare,” she said. Just two days later, Huneck shot himself in the head while sitting in his car outside his psychiatrist’s office. “He was one of the most creative and active members of the Vermont crafts community,” Jennifer Boyer, co-owner of the Artisans Hand craft gallery in Montpelier, said in an interview. “I appreciate how much energy he put into his works, which were whimsical and sardonically funny. He really had a unique sense of humour.” Huneck started out in the antique business and as a furniture maker. He taught himself to carve and his artistry was inspired by his love of dogs. He also wrote children’s book which included My Dog’s Brain, The Dog Chapel and the Sally series, inspired by his dog. So sad…Our condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
